Makeba’s goal is to create a low cost and easy to use mobile app for financial transactions - including sending international remittance and making local payments. As we are beginning our operations in several countries, we are looking for a UK-Nigeria Corridor Specialist who is passionate about sales, enjoys new challenges and becomes an integral part of our team's commitment to success. Reporting to the EU Managing Director, the UK-Nigeria Corridor Specialist will have responsibilities across four areas :
  1. Launch Makeba service in UK and Europe
  2. Drive exponential growth on the UK-Nigeria corridor, providing local insights in terms of value proposition and marketing channels
  3. Report on business findings, insights and provide business recommendations and translate ideas to actionable items that deliver business results
  4. Develop and execute new customer activation plans and retention tactics, within budget

Responsibilities
• Execute the launch of new Nigerian remittance markets for Makeba. Support all aspects of the launch of a new market and be a liaison for all areas of the organization
• Monitoring and analyzing remittance market trend especially for Nigeria-UK corridor
• Help us grow our existing sales and new sales and extend our market infiltration.
• Identifying the target markets (Nigerians and British Nigerians in the UK) and developing strategies to communicate with them
• Support customers, direct and coordinate local marketing activities to promote services
• Perform market and competitive analysis and identify trends
• Identify, sign and deliver new merchant relationships and business directly
• Identifying locations for Branding and advertising.
• Coordinate and participate in promotional activities and road shows, working with advertisers, and production managers, to market services
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree
• Strong understanding of multicultural media and consumers with relevant marketing experience to immigrant communities (Nigerian/British Nigerian) in the UK
• Proactive, highly structured and be a natural problem solver. Always willing to go that extra mile.
• Ability to travel within the UK as required (for events and road shows)
• Demonstrated experience in increasing sales and extending market penetration
• Excellent communication skills (verbal, written and interpersonal) + ability to negotiate, persuade and influence
• Strong MS OFFICE skills (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
• Fluent in English + in at least one of the main Nigerian native languages (Hausa, Yoruba or Igbo)
• The ability to communicate with people from across the globe and to work flexible hours in an International and challenging environment.
• Having experience in remittance, currency exchange or retail business would be a plus!
