The Role

Growth & Performance Marketing Lead (USA – Cape Verde Diaspora)

Makeba is launching Makeba Money in the United States, starting with remittances USA → Cape Verde, with plans to expand into:

wallets
merchant services
credit
SME financial tools

We’re looking for a Growth & Performance Marketing Lead to own digital user acquisition end-to-end, with a strong focus on:

paid social and events
content creation
funnel optimization
performance analytics

Community partnerships (churches, associations, diaspora groups). You will work fully remote and directly with the founding team, with high ownership over strategy, execution, and results.

What You’ll Do

Own and execute paid acquisition across:

Meta Ads (Facebook & Instagram)
TikTok Ads
(optional expansion) X / YouTube Shorts
Build and test short-form creatives:
Reels / TikToks / Shorts
diaspora-tailored copy and messaging
Improve conversion across the funnel:
landing pages
onboarding
activation flows
Track and optimize performance:
CAC, activation rate, retention
cost per funded transaction
campaign ROI + learning velocity

Provide weekly performance insights to leadership:

what worked / what didn’t
next tests
recommendations for product + pricing improvements

Success Metrics (How You’ll Be Measured)

This role is measured on real business outcomes, not vanity metrics:

Cost per activated user
Transaction volume generated (TPV)
Activation + repeat usage
Funnel conversion efficiency
Creative testing velocity + campaign ROI

Required Skills & Qualifications

We’re looking for someone who has:

Strong experience in Growth / Performance Marketing / Digital Marketing
Proven ability to manage paid acquisition campaigns end-to-end
Hands-on expertise with:
Meta Ads (Facebook & Instagram)
TikTok Ads
short-form content creation
Strong copywriting + messaging ability, especially for trust-based products
Ability to optimize landing pages and onboarding funnels
Strong analytical mindset and comfort with:
CAC, activation rate, retention
attribution and conversion tracking
dashboards and reporting
Ability to work fully remote, independently, with high ownership
Fluent in English

Nice to have

Creole and/or Portuguese
Experience in fintech, remittances, or diaspora-focused products
Cape Verdean / African diaspora background

What This Role Is NOT

To be clear, this is not:

brand marketing only
PR / influencer management
a junior “social media posting” role

This is a performance + execution + analytics role with direct business impact.

Remote (USA) Massachusetts preferred
