United States Freelance / Contractor Remote

The Role

Makeba is launching Makeba Money in the United States, starting with remittances USA to Cape Verde, with plans to expand into wallets, merchant services, credit, and SME financial tools. We're looking for a Growth and Performance Marketing Lead to own digital user acquisition end-to-end, with a strong focus on paid social, content creation, funnel optimization, performance analytics, and community partnerships.

What You'll Do

  • Own and execute paid acquisition across Meta Ads, TikTok Ads, and optional expansion to X / YouTube Shorts
  • Build and test short-form creatives: Reels, TikToks, diaspora-tailored copy
  • Improve conversion across the funnel: landing pages, onboarding, activation flows
  • Track and optimize performance: CAC, activation rate, retention, cost per funded transaction, campaign ROI
  • Provide weekly performance insights to the CEO

Success Metrics

  • Cost per activated user
  • Transaction volume generated (TPV)
  • Activation and repeat usage
  • Funnel conversion efficiency
  • Creative testing velocity and campaign ROI

Required Skills

  • Strong experience in Growth or Performance Marketing
  • Proven ability to manage paid acquisition campaigns end-to-end
  • Hands-on expertise with Meta Ads, TikTok Ads, and short-form content creation
  • Strong analytical mindset: CAC, activation rate, attribution and conversion tracking
  • Fluent in English

Nice to Have

  • Creole and/or Portuguese
  • Experience in fintech, remittances, or diaspora-focused products
  • Cape Verdean / African diaspora background

What This Role Is NOT

This is not brand marketing only, PR / influencer management, or a junior social media posting role. This is a performance, execution and analytics role with direct business impact.
